Boozy Malts

Recipe: Make a malt or simple milkshake, replace the milk with alcohol. 😀

Vanilla schnapps works well, and mixed into a chocolate malt… Well, that’s full of win.

Drinking and dri…dead.

Ok, with a recent conversation popping up in World of Warcraft of all places… I feel the need to post.

There was some kid who was whining about not being able to drive for a year. Apparently he had gotten caught drinking and driving, and his license was suspended. (Hurray, one less idiot on the road!)

However, the moron was actually trying to defend that drinking and driving was ok. Really? Are you that stupid? The answer is hell yes. He went on to say, “It wasn’t that bad. Not like I crashed or anything.” Oh, good for you. I bet they caught your ass not too far from the bar you just left anyway. And then there was his debate over the legal limit and how he was just barely over it, therefore not drunk. Bullshit dude. You don’t have to be drunk to be effected.

So, thankfully there were a few people yelling at him so I didn’t have to waste my time. However, another jackass decided to give the kid a “pro tip” and told him “if you are going to drink and drive, drive home at 7-8pm instead of 2am.” Yeah, great tip. Let’s send his drunk ass out on the road when there are MORE PEOPLE to possibly kill. Great idea! Let’s see, where do you live? Can he drive to your house? Take out two fucktards at once?

/sigh

Now, I personally have never driven drunk. Course, I don’t drive anyway, but even if I did, people make me nervous on the road. I would have no desire to try driving when my own skills are hindered. Sadly, I have seen others do it. It’s scary. It’s stupid. And cabs should have been called. Thankfully everyone got home ok, but not everyone is lucky during that drive home. Everyday tons of people are injured and killed by the stupidity of drunk drivers. Don’t be one of them.

Seriously people. Drinking to have a good time is one thing. You fall down drunk, you only hurt yourself. Please keep it that way. Don’t get behind the wheel of your car after drinking. Just because you think you’re ok, doesn’t mean your car doesn’t become a weapon and a danger to those around you.

We here at The Drunken Alchemist want you to drink responsibly, but remember, that responsibility leaves the bar with you. Stay safe, don’t be stupid.

Squeaky squeaky POP!

For anyone who has only experienced tequila via Jose… You are missing out.

If you can afford it, go get a bottle of Patron. It is fantastic. Very smooth. Little salt, little lime… You’re good to go.

No further thoughts after three shots in a row. Msybe more later.

…if I can type.

Honey Nut

So, after a few annoyances in the evening, I finally got around to trying a combo I thought of the other day.

We had our first suggestion of something to try. Barenjager. It is a honey liqueur. Pretty sweet. Tastes like an alcoholic honey stick. Good, but as a straight shot… Meh. The company website does offer suggestions on what to mix it with, and the person who suggested it did say that the bartender was putting it in several things.

So… My first experiment was a honey nut.
1/2 Barenjager
1/2 Frangelico

Served as a shot.

Result: Pretty tasty. As the bottle suggests, Barenjager is best served chilled. As usual, depending on the amount of Frangelico, the nutty flavor can overpower. So adjust amounts according to your preference.

All in all, something worth trying.

Being safe and having fun. Always a good thing.

One would think that creating a website designed to share alcoholic recipes and drunken stories with the world would be the signal for a quick trip to AA.

Well, it’s not.

This site is to promote the social aspect of alcohol. Drinking alone is not only boring, but it can lead to very depressing states of mind. Having one drink with dinner, ok, that’s fine. However, drinking to the point of stumbling drunk while alone… Yeah, pass on that, ok? It’s sad, and won’t do you any good.

This is why we drink with friends. We share the tingly goodness with people we care about, have some laughs, and hopefully end the night on a high note. The focus here isn’t the alcohol. It’s the friends. It’s the good times, the laughs, the cries, the people who depend on you, and the people who have your back.  While alcohol can make things a tad more interesting, just remember,  you can still have a blast without it. Drinking is fun, but not necessary.

Now then, we are all about having fun, but having fun while being responsible adults makes it better. Know the laws, know your limits, and know when to stop. These things are key to having a good time and not having to deal with messy lawsuits, hospital stays, and crap like that…

Afterall, you don’t hop on a rollercoaster and say go before you check to make sure the restraints buckle properly, do you? If you do, then I guess you probably can’t read this anyway. Your dumbass is probably dead.

So, to those of you who wish to experiment with us here at The Drunken Alchemist. Cheers! Keep on testing, and keep on living.

Strawberry Banana

Testing out the banana schnapps with Strawberry Crush soda. We got backups in case the Banana Nut didn’t work out. Even though it did work great, there are still options.

So, banana with strawberry soda is alternative test one. That got a wow. Surprised at how tasty that was. Don’t really have amounts for it as it was just a pure test. Bit of strawberry soda with a splash of the banana. It was enough to blend the flavors nicely. Could easily be done as a weak shot, or a full glass if you mix it right. (I.e. don’t put too much banana in or it will overpower the soda.)

Test two is the strawberry jello with the banana schnapps.  :) This wins too. Again, the flavors blend great.

Hi Ho Cherry

Hi Ho Cherry

Hi Ho Cherry. A fantastic win. This is one of those experiments that was an instant success. It came from a joke about drinks involving childhood games.

Recipe:

  • 1/2 Cherry Pucker
  • 1/2 Red UV
  • One or more cherries

Serve chilled. For maximum awesome, let the shot sit with a cherry in it for a few minutes. The cherry will absorb a bit of the shot and end up all sorts of fantastic.

Shake. Pour. Repeat.

Banana Nut

Banana Nut

First experiment of the evening is Banana Nut. This came about because of another idea for a shot, Muffin Bombs, but we couldn’t find blueberry schnapps for that one… We’ll try that one eventually.

So, for now, we ended up going for a Banana Nut muffin style shot. Banana Liqueur and Frangelico’s. Half and half.

The Frangelico’s is very strong scent wise, and you get a hint of the banana. Taste wise, it is very sweet. Good combination and very smooth. As you take the shot, the nutty flavor remains strong and then the banana hits you at the end. You can adjust the amounts if you prefer a bit more banana flavoring, but overall this one works.

We also tried it as an actual “bomb”. Though, technically, we were a bit lazy and just poured it all together instead of doing the traditional dropping of the shot.  We added the Banana Nut shot to A&W cream soda. It, amazingly enough, does taste a lot like banana nut bread.

Experiment: Banana Nut. Success!

Note: Again, this is a very sweet shot. Probably a finisher rather than something to start the night off with. One or two and you’ll probably be good. This is not a shot you can do all night, but definitely a fun one.

Let the experiments begin!

Tonight will bring several experiments. We will be posting a recipe that we know and love, but also trying out some new things.

Progress will be posted as the experiments happen. Taking pictures of the shots, which could end up being interesting as the night goes on…
