Drunken Alchemy

Quick note, mainly because there will be drinking this weekend… Kind of a reminder to myself, but also a friendly reminder to anyone who actually reads this.

Water is good. Alcohol does dehydrate you. I know, if you’ve been drinking all night, you’re drunk enough to try to say “Hey, Rabid, I’ve been drinking. I have a ton of liquid in me. I’m not dehydrated!”

Well, guess again.

Anyone who drinks knows about “The Seal”. Now, when you’ve been drinking for a bit, you obviously end up with a full bladder. Most people try to hold it for as long as they can because once you “break the seal” you’re screwed. You’ll be making trips to the bathroom all damn night.

This is your body’s way of telling you, “Get this foreign crap out of me.” It’s trying to get rid of the alcohol. In doing so, it’s getting rid of water as well.

So, keep a balance. Make sure to toss some water into the night. No, I don’t mean a squirt gun fight or toss a bucket of water on your friend’s head. I mean try to drink some water before, in between, and after drinks.

Remember, The Drunken Alchemist wants you to have fun, but we also want you to be able to do it again. Drink responsibly.

Sundaes are awesome, but you know what would be better?

Actually having the recipe on here and having an instructional video. A video? Yes. A video.

Sundaes are involved. There is prep time, and a proper way to do the shot. Sure, you can do a standard “tequila” style, but it’s more fun as a body shot. In fact, it becomes quite the mini game. Very entertaining.

One of these days we’ll try to put together some videos of drink experiments. I’d say it’d be all instructional, but… Well… We’ll be testing, so we’ll at least be slightly buzzed while doing it.

Now if only work and holidays didn’t get in the way…

It’s official. We’re now calling the Root Beer and UV Cake: Beer Cake.

Honestly, this combo is good. In fact, you’ll be saying “Damn, this is good.” at least once while drinking it. It’s just surprisingly yummy. It’s also surprisingly sticky. Sticky, as in you won’t be able to put the glass down. It will be stuck to your hand until it’s done. You’ll maybe want to set it down, but it never makes it to the table. You pause, and bring it back up to take just one more sip, which then makes you forget that you wanted to put it down in the first place.

Beer Cake. Still wins.

Experiment of the night:

One shot of UV Cake added to A&W Root Beer.

Results: Win.

Tonight’s minor experiment happened just because we had both and it sounded good.

Take the cake, take the cherry. Win.

Next up. Cherry, then cake. We’ll let you know how that goes, though I’m sure that equals win too.

Additional: Forgot to add the results of the Cherry Cake. Mainly because it was just that good… So we did a few. 😛 Personally, I thought the Cherry then Cake worked better.

Last night we discussed creating a rating system for drinks. This system could possibly include sweetness, coolness, warmth, hotness, bitterness, flav…. well, you get the idea.

Considering how we critique things as we test, it would be fun to actually have a scale to grade them on.

And yes, there will always be a Sneaky Bastard stamp on those drinks that creep up on you out of nowhere. We just have to create the logo first. 😛

We’ve got a lot of work to do here. Recipes to post, videos to make, graphics to create, experiments to be done…

Right. Question is… Where do we start?

Answer? Gotta start posting things as we’re doing them. Also, stop hoping to get things done, and actually do them.

Recipe:

A&W Cream Soda
Dehydrated Blueberries soaked in vanilla schnapps for a few days

Drop a shot of the blueberry infused schnapps into a glass of cream soda and enjoy.

Note, it tastes very yummy. This gets a sneaky bastard stamp.
